Quick calc sheet tells us that 800 000+ of votes for Sejm and 3 500 000+ votes for Senat did not result in a mandate.
The discrepancy between votes % and mandate % is massive, aside from few isolated cases.
The turnout was a great success, which shows that people actually can be motivated to vote.
Yet voices of those that voted for those that did not qualify nor those that “silently” voted by not voting (for many different reasons) was disregarded.
Quick and dirty solution proposal?
Remote voting through mObywatel and allowing for picking more than one option, if the primary does not qualify, then count the vote for secondary or tertiary.
“Secret” ballots are largely a sham by now – while political opinions, especially in rural communities, were largely known already, this time around secrecy was lost by simply people declaring whether they take a referendum card or not.
Any of it won’t happen though and it’s not for any of the reasons that usually are officially given – it’s because essentially it’s large parties that would have to vote it in, and it’s them that are benefiting from the current system the most.
I DON’T CARE WHO YOU VOTED FOR, I DON’T CARE IF WHAT I PROPOSE WOULD IMPACT YOUR FAVORITE/HATED PARTY POSITIVELY OR NEGATIVELY – THAT’S NOT THE POINT OF MY POST.
