While working as an engineering draftsman, I always stumble across freely available and old base maps, the ZEUS map is one of the more interesting ones.
Translated introduction:
__1. de quoi s’agit-il? / What is it about?__
The ZEUS operation order of 28.4.89 was the last such order issued by Army 61 at the end of the Cold War (fall of the Berlin Wall on 9.11.1989, dissolution of the Warsaw Pact on 1.7.1991). It was valid during the short transitional period until Army 95. According to ZEUS paragraph 4, Special Orders, 43rd reference to the basic disposition, this was to be obtained following a general war mobilisation without further orders. It could be used temporarily as a readiness device to maintain the greatest possible degree of freedom of decision or it could be expanded to a definitive basic combat device in order to quickly achieve a high degree of combat readiness (see the adjacent text of the complete ZEUS operational order).
