the option to accept the current settings is “hidden” in the long text.
It’s pretty much with every site like that unfortunately.
I’m using “I don’t care about cookies” plugin to hide the banners and “Privacy Badger” to falsify tracking information, combined with uBlock and some other plugins.
Still, even with that I’m pretty sure they can track through other means they don’t tell us.
Yes this one is very misleading.
Another problem is most people just blindly click the colorful “accept all” button. My sister was on her mobile on some site and I actually showed her that you really only need to accept the required cookies and she was baffled, lol.
All these cookies are getting trickier by the day, trying to stay GDPR compliant and yet confusing the fk out of us.
also if you opted out, it always magically forgets your setting and you have to accept next time until you cave in.
Mediamarkt shady?
No way
uBlock Origin can hide that thing (and much more).
I just click accept all, they just keep asking over and over otherwise especially if you regularly delete cookies. Also i’m 99% they gather all data regardless of the option you choose.
Mark & Bill already have all my data anyways, what more harm is media markt going to do?
Prestatiescookies are also hidden on the Vandenborre.be Privacy popup. Akte van Wantrouwen.
Mafia Markt
Reminds me of the site http://www.drogisterij.net where it is not possible to put anything in the trolley if you don’t accept their marketing cookies. That’s literally a GDPR violation.
I actually got used to clicking save settings. But I noticed that some sites started to select everything again by default and you have to click a button unselect all. The stupid thing is that unselect all doesn’t do “legitimate interest” and then they give me a freaking list of 100 partners that have interest in me watching a page about how to install solar panels.
But like seriously totally off topic about solar panels. It is insane how many shady calculators and information sites that there are that actually don’t wish to be informative but want to generate sales. I once spend 20 min inputting parameters only to get redirected to a page to input my personal information. Sir, the only thing I wish to share is how small my roof is … .
Maybe don’t use a lowcost international store?
https://tweakers.net/ is even worse, you need a paid subscription to there site in order to disable any ad/tracking cookies
Last time I went to MediaMarkt was to buy a ps4 pro I ended up not buying because they charged 20 euro extra on top of the selling price. The reason was because they unboxed a new product to install the latest patches. Yeah fuck off, the PS4 wasn’t even new anymore
Edit: words
a lot of those websites does that, even tricked me before. Yet my browser blocks those anyway. Checkmate
You see this almost everywhere. There is a lot of money involved in personal information like this.
