  1. > The streaming giant said monthly charges for its UK basic service would rise by one pound to £7.99 and the advert-free option will increase by £2 to £17.99.

There’s something fucked up about having to pay for the service with ads at all.

You’re already forced to watch ads, the revenue should come from that. Screw paying for the privilege of watching ads.

  2. It should replace “despite” with “because of”. Clear as day what their game is.

  3. I find it hilarious how Redditors were so confident that Netflix would lose millions of subscribers. Such a clear demonstration of how misinformed their analysis is, as always.

  4. Are netflix actively trying to remove their user base or what?

  5. Why does the bbc keep giving them all this publicity?

I don’t use Netflix anymore. It’s not worth those prices. More fool those who think it is.

  6. 17.99 might not sound that bad in isolation, but I reckon most people have got a mix of Disney plus, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Paramount etc. A lot of people will have initially been attracted to the likes of Netflix as an alternative to paying Sky £90 a month, but if you have to basically pay that to get full coverage of the main streaming networks, it feels like we’ve done a 360 back to the 90s and it’d be easier to just have one supplier managing it all.

  7. Personally I don’t think there’s any streaming service which is worth that.

    Maybe HBO.

  8. The government should ban streaming services that charge monthly fees and play ads. It’s ridiculous.

  9. It’s so easy to burn through all the worthwhile content within a month on Netflix. Now that there’s so many streaming services, it’s becoming a game of subscribing to one to watch what you want, then cancel only to switch to Disney+ for a month and so on. Otherwise with these prices, it’s impossible to afford.

  10. I’ve cancelled all my subscription services, bought a 2TB hard drive and gone back to the high seas. Streaming was great 5/10 years ago but corporate greed has ruined any upsides just like it has in all other aspects of modern society. Fuck em!

  11. That fellas blue suit and haircut is triggering me something fierce

  12. Given how hard I’m finding it to find things I want to watch on Netflix these days I can’t see myself retaining it.
    Not for £17.99

  13. I don’t understand why people still pay for Netflix, get a dodgy firestick, cancel your subscription and save some money!

  14. We really have gone full circle back to the bad old days of the 90s.

Guess a whole new generation are going to have to take to the high seas.

  15. They just can’t do anything to stop people watching Netflix. They tried stopping account sharing, tried increasing prices, tried adding ads
    What should they do?

  16. At the time I got Netflix because it was cheap. It got me away from apps like popcorn time. But the price now has made it not worth it. Back to the risky option again…

  17. I really should just buy the Always Sunny boxsets. don’t think I’ve watched anything else on there for a year
