  1. Only positive thing about him. Otherwise, he’s an absolute scumbag.

  2. All that happened is the majority party in the US lower house, currently engaged in a civil war, by a majority vote *within their party* representatives have decided on a **third** candidate that the majority of their party support.

Their previous two attempts failed when actually put up for election in the lower house because, despite holding a majority in the lower house, they are engaged in a vicious civil war so they cannot get a majority of votes.

Signs are this third candidate will equally fail.

  3. He won’t make it without Democrat support, which he won’t receive because he won’t negotiate with Democrats.

  4. Mods: Misleading title – this isn’t what happened

  5. Nobody has been “elected” here. He is just throwing his hat in the ring. And the ring is full of dogshit and landmines.

  6. Republicans elect pro-Ukrainian **to be a candidate** for House of Representatives Speaker

  7. This candidate , unlike the first two, is an actual republican, and not a member of the trump/ maga cult .

If the vote is by secret ballot , he will win.

  8. Kremlin gonna be upset!

Notwithstanding he is simply going to be nominated as Speaker and is not yet actually speaker I suspect he will be appointed unless there is something I am unaware about his past track record.

What is most telling about his nomination to be speaker within the Republic caucus is that it may be indicating the moderate portion of the caucus decided to make certain not of the Ruzzian Rabid Right got in. Which in secret voting they could do without drawing any personal consequences or attacks upon themselves or their families by the lunatic right. Time will tell but I hope he did not have to strike any backroom deals with the ultracons.

  9. They will still probably fail to officially elect anyone republicans are not a serious party when they can’t do something which should be simple

  10. He wont get in. Trump just dissed him which means his maga idiots will not vote for him
    The gop is finished

  11. This is straight up disinformation. They didn’t elect anyone. They just nominated a candidate, who the fascist pro-Putin wing of the GOP will never go along with.

  12. If he supports Ukraine he would have my vote.

    And my axe.

  13. USA 2-party system is such a shitshow and it shows here.

  14. They didnt elect anyone and this guy already dropped his name out of the running.
