  1. “The nice thing about standards is that you have so many to choose from; furthermore, if you do not like any of them, you can just wait for next year’s model.”

(Widely attributed to Tanenbaum, but also to GraceHopper. Quote appeared in Andrew S. Tanenbaum, p168 “Computer Networks”, 1st ed, 1981, and p254 of the second edition. TheUnixHatersHandbook p10 attributes the first phrase of the quote to GraceHopper.)

  3. It is absolutely shameful that western ‘leaders’ have had a year and a half to address critical supply issues and next to nothing has been done in most countries.

Never mind the quality, feel the width.

  5. An article from June:

“Although some large NATO countries have agreed on certain standards for the 155mm rounds used by howitzers, additional calculations are often needed to hit a target with the required precision, experts say.”

“Companies are making money out of the fact that ammunitions are not interchangeable, that they can dominate their national markets with their munitions.”

  6. Stupid question, but isn’t the common standard for 155mm shells that they are 155mm in diameter?

Smart assery aside, I’m surprised that there isn’t a NATO 155mm standard for common rounds.
