I am a student at the University of Michigan, and I just published an article for the journalism branch of my sports business club ([Financial Instability Running Rampant Among English Soccer Clubs](https://www.sbamichigan.com/post/financial-instability-running-rampant-among-english-soccer-clubs)).

I figured my piece would be of interest to this sub. It details the mounting concerns regarding the financial framework of English soccer. Many clubs which compete below the country’s top tier of professional play (the Premier League) are at risk of going under, and the main causes of this concerning trend are completely preventable, but the executive oversight in place to prevent widespread financial mismanagement of English clubs is not doing its job.

As American soccer fans, I know that many of us are only concerned with the Premier League. For a long time, I only cared about the PL, and if you’re the same way, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, it’s important to remember that the PL is only possible because of the revolutionary EFL pyramid system, which makes the financial imbalance that currently exists within the non-PL leagues within the system extremely concerning.

Would love to hear any thoughts/opinions/feedback you guys have on this article and this topic in general. Hopefully the sub doesn’t try to crucify me for self-promo.
