I have no idea what the Peter McVerry trust is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask.
Everybody partied
>The charity reported €60 million in income last year, some €43 million of which came from public funding, with the vast majority of the remainder made up from donations.
>The trust is facing […] large €8.3 million Revenue bill, to repay PAYE tax debts warehoused during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The neck of some people…
Can Peter McVerry not ask his church which has billions for a dig out?
I’m a bottle of wine in so excuse me if this is absolute nonsense.
Shouldn’t the state be doing whatever the pmv trust does?
Why do we outsource all of these important things to religious and voluntary bodies?
Why do we provide government funding to charities? Shouldn’t the state distribute the funds directly itself and cut out the middle man
So many gravy trains in this country and little repurcussion for mismanagement/misappropriation of public funds.
I need to stop moaning online and get on one of these trains.
All aboard. choo choo! 🚂
I have a lack of trust with this Trust.
Get bent.
I have little faith in their corporate governance. No reform and resistant to independent oversight in light of what has happened.
I think it should be wound down and other reputable and trusted service providers with robust corporate governance procedures given the emergency funding to take over its services.

Don’t they owe the state several million.
