On the French political spectrum Zemmour is now the new extreme right-wing movement.
Zemmour is a well-articulated agitateur, prone to debates and happens to be Jewish, which granted him half the votes of the French-Israëlis at the last presidential elections.
I do not understand why SOME on the left find it difficult to unequivocally condemn Hama’s actions, and at the same time, oppose Israel’s dispossession and subjugation of Palestinians?
In my view, hatred, retribution and revenge are not fertile ground for liberation politics. To the contrary, they lead to reactionary and blind nationalism. They lead to dehumanization. Hamas, and for that matter Al queda and ISIS, represent a form of conservative and rightwing nationalism. Iran represents a form of clerical fascism. Non of them are advancing progressive liberation politics.
None of this justifies Israel’s occupation and subjugation of the Palestinian people and the Israeli campaign of ethnic cleansing. None of this justifies collective punishment and bombing civilians.
Ethno-nationalism will only lead to more useless violence.
I have a lot of family in France (being of North African Jewish heritage and all). They’ve been anti left for a very long time already, they feel abandoned by the left.
Most of my family there like Zemmour, since he’s also a North African Jewish Frenchman
Could a french person explain if they really are far right? Here in Portugal our “far-right” are basically anti-immigration populist lefties, so I never trust these labels.

This is the consequence of partisan thinking, there are no reason anything Left need to be loyal to Hamas this much.
