  1. >Will home countries take citizens back?

    >Chancellor Scholz recently said that his government was seeking, “agreements with countries from which refugees come who cannot stay.”

    >Berlin is currently in talks with Georgia, Moldova, Kenya, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan but others, such as Nigeria, Zambia and Iraq, have refused such cooperation.

That’s one of the big problems: you can’t deport people to nowhere. The German politicians are making a lot of noise on this issue but I think it will be just noise in the end.

  2. This cannot possibly go badly and end up as massive headache down the line

  3. We already are seeing a bunch of people on social media complaining about this. Apparently, now it is racist to deport criminals

  4. What will they do when home countries refuse repatriation? I think you need to hold such criminals indefinitely to provide a real disincentive.

  5. Still room to improve, but a step in the right direction for those who can’t be bothered to follow European laws and culture

  6. this headline doesn’t sound so great if you just finished watching some History Channel

  7. I’m sure the numbers would be pretty low. They are just trying to please AfD voters.

  8. Progress but only a drop in the ocean while the German funded people smuggling is still active in the Mediterranean.
