“News flash for Hollywood executives: Young people aged 10-24 are looking for less sex scenes in television and in movies, according to a new study out of UCLA.”
They asked 10-year-olds about their opinion on sex in movies and television?
Including web porn sites.
Millennial here. I noticed. Gen Z often remind me of my disapproving grandma, no offense to either generation. Their kids will rebel and unleash a Caligula for the AI age.
I’m not prude, but it doesn’t need to be in everything we watch and listen, it feels off, I don’t like that.
It really feels like young people want movies/tv to just be a couple hours of “good vibes” and anything that is mildly uncomfortable is morally wrong and should never be viewed by anyone.
Sex scenes rarely add any value.
no, we want less STRAIGHT sex on the screen.
Me too actually lol I don’t mind the sex but if it doesn’t add anything to the plot then it’s bullshit.
As a zoomer, I just want the sex on screen to mean something rather than being there to be there. Serve the story, not my libido. That’s what the hub is for.
Millennial cusper here. I think a lot of Gen z folks are just more media literate and find a great deal of on-screen romance in general to be shallow and tasteless. Standards are getting higher.
I’m no prude but it does limit things I can watch with other people. Like I’m not gonna watch the idol with my mom or my catholic friends
Idk it seems to me more like they don’t enjoy gratuitous and exploitive sex (or violence for that matter) more than they object to sex scenes in general.
Gen Z needs to shut their fucking mouths.
Who cares what they want? They can simply not watch it.
We need more Blue Mountain State. Thad is a golden god.
“From the school’s Center for Scholars and Storytellers comes the “Teens and Screens” report, which reports that 51.5% of adolescents would like to see more content depicting friendships and platonic relationships.”
So nothing about sex on screen. Both the author of this article and the OP are lying in the title.
It’s okay everyone, culture changes and if you’re saying “these kids are…” then guess what that makes you.
I mean you can quickly google insertions of every description. We don’t need so much titty in dramas
Basically these (mostly)pointless adult scenes are competing with the whole ass adult film industry. This is like a fitness influencer competing on gymnastics against Olympic Gymnasts. One is specialised for the adult scenes, the other has a trope of trying to shock the audience with it.
It used to be that if a teen wanted to see hot people undressed, they’d be overjoyed with a few seconds of sex scenes in movies. Now, there’s millions of hours of content catered exactly to people’s wishes, and whatever the movie studios can do about explicit content, the adult industry will do more in every way.
As they say, fuck dem kids.
I think we need way more erotica in TV/film. People need exposure on why seduction looks like and how to enjoy sex.
But it has to be quality, to actually show what eroticism can be like in real life, not shameless nudity purely for titillation.
Poorly done sex scenes are better left out altogether.
Eroticism done right > no eroticism > softcore porn
Basically, the last thing we need is another brothel scene in an HBO series.
Title should have read: “Gen Z Youth want less ROMANCE on Screen. I agree. It was refreshing to watch Shang-Chi where it depicted the two leading roles (man/women) just being best friends and they stayed that way through out the entire movie.
There’s practically no sex on screen as is.
Gen-Z are kinda prudish. I think some shows and TV have way too much gratuitous sex and nudity but they had a bizarre moral panic over the brief nude scenes in Oppenheimer which had me scratching my head
I’m not gen Z and I want that too.
I just end up wondering if I’m watching art or a young woman being exploited by her much older superiors
What are they? Gay?
Actually yeah it turns out
And why the fuck are they asking 10 year olds?
Sex in Halo was the dumbest shit ever and I didn’t even watched it.
Half of gen z doesn’t like sex on screens. Half of gen z are also children so I don’t really see the point of this study.
I’m 36 and I wouldn’t mind this shift.
I don’t mind sex scenes for being sex scenes- but often times they’re the most boring part of the movie/show and just mess up the pacing. It’s like they’re just thrown in for the sake of having a sex scene without actually adding anything to the story.
I would prefer more sex scenes and less violence tbh. America is in love with gratuitous violence as it is IMO
I heard a child who couldn’t have been older than 10/11 in a museum today when I was explaining how dangerous water fowl (geese) can be say and I quote
“Stupid mother fucker I’d kill that bitch ass fucking bird tryin to run up on my crew”
Never spoke that way at that age or knew other kids that did. The constant media- tv phones internet- o really think is making the children born in gen z and alpha to mature faster verbally than previous generations
