  1. Really? Is Tesco doing some kind of subliminal marketing? I don’t really want to sound like a scrooge but won’t eat at home be equally expensive too? Buying food, time to prepare, cooking time, energy bills, washing up dishes, cleaning up house. Aren’t they costs?

  2. I see signs for meals on Christmas day all the time. They seem to be from £60 at the very cheapest up to £100+
Most sit around £75. Who can really justify that for a single meal which would cost about a third of that on any other day of the year?

For £150 you can do a pretty extravagant spread at home to feed like eight people – less than £15 each.

  3. Maybe I am out of touch but don’t most people party at home at Christmas? I know people go out around the holiday period, however there are still plenty of parties at people’s houses for friends and family. All it means is fewer people will be going out and possibly fewer parties generally. The cost of entertaining is just going to be too much for people to endure these days.
