Hi!
I am a student renting a room in Norway. At the start, the rental company said it is a 1 year contract from August 1st to July 31st.
Different options were not possible. It is not possible to terminate the contract sooner.
I might want to move to a nicer place, but I’m not sure I’m able to.
Is it allowed in Norway to have such a contract, where the tenant is in no way allowed to terminate the contract?

Yes, it’s totally legal to have a lease contract with a binding period. You have to pay rent for the period specified in the contract, but you could always talk with the landlord to see if you can shorten it in anyway.
Yes, legal and normal.
