  1. Think everyone has that terrible feeling in their gut that this madness is about to get a hell of a lot worse.

  2. Exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah in south Lebanon are still within the accepted “norm.” An escalation is unlikely unless Israel get careless with their anticipated ground operation in Gaza.

    Even then, Hezbollah’s response will need to be measured, as Iran still pulls the strings, and Hezbollah (political) can’t afford to draw Lebanon into conflict. Though, if enough Lebanese civilians or Hezbollah commanders get killed, they may work outside the bounds of Iranian control.

    There has been an uptick in regional Iranian proxy militia activity, though small scale for now.

    It may continue to be protracted unless significant numbers of civilians are killed in Lebanon/Gaza.
