Found in bed with his jacket on, under a blanket. Family had last seen him Christmas 2001. Seems there was a big cold spell around that time in December, with -4C temps. The poor man. Shocking stuff.
I’m not sure I believe the family. You come all the way from Australia and all you do is ask a neighbour and the local pub? They’ve been in contact regularly and then suddenly stop? It’s not like you can’t send post from the UK.
I’m not sure if they went to the guards at all. A bit convenient the mystery garda could never be found afterwards.
Either way it looks like multiple groups fucked up big time here. There should be a full investigation and not just chalk it off as some tragic misunderstanding
God love him, how incredibly sad. It’s more heartbreaking somehow to think of him living so very cut off from the rest of the community. A very lonely life such as this seems much more painful to contemplate than this quiet passing away. We can only hope the poor man slipped away in peace, at least.
A strange one, but how is it that nobody broke into the house in this time? Where I’m from, if you leave your place unoccupied for a week, it’ll be copped and ransacked
Was he 61 when he died, or would he be 61 now, because he was only just officially declared dead?
