  1. Seems like a good time to redouble our efforts, then!

If what we’re doing is working, and it seems like it is, that’s all the more reason to stay resolved on our goal and true to the path.

  2. We thought so, too in Germany around 2010.

Then Merkel happend and with her the end of the German Solar sector plus a drastic reduction in the expansion of our renewables.

Nothing is unstoppable, if the people elected lack in ambition to serve.

  3. Arabs would like to have a word……………………………..

Yeah I just hope we can go renewable, lets see if its that simple

  4. How about sustainable energy instead of renewable?

For the energy consumption, nuclear is still the best and reliable.

  5. >With renewables now the cheapest power source, solar and wind energy are loosening fossil fuels’ grip on the global economy. Demand for coal, oil, and gas is expected to peak this decade, according to the IEA’s new Outlook.

    Fossil fuels are becoming obsolete.

  6. Wind is already cheaper than everything else. There’s a dozen grid storage technologies being used in real world tests now, and sodium ion home storage is coming online now. It real if the beginning of GG for coal and natural gas.

  7. I’ll get excited when gas, oil, and coal stop being used everywhere on the planet still.

  8. That’s nice, but when you put it like that, I’m suddenly worried. I guess the word “unstoppable” sounds ominous. Can we change it?

  9. Praying for a future where energy production is so intense and efficient that it is almost virtually free to travel, heat/cool homes, cook, etc.

That future is right in front of us and we can have it if we want to.

  10. Just in time to have only *kind of* irreparably fucked up the planet!

  11. Bc of legislation. It’s good but be honest about the reason

  12. Just in time for world war 3!!! Ugh, I am
So tired of living in the most ironic timeline.

  13. Lots of good paying jobs are going to be lost and the green ones won’t be as lucrative.

  14. The industry wants to go this way, but even in Canada we’re seeing the likes of Danielle Smith who are actively blocking new solar projects from breaking ground. The shift may be inevitable, but our elected officials will do everything in their power to ensure the status quo stays the same.

  15. So what this article is really saying is the same scrubs monopolizing energy via fossil fuels have finally taken over the market for clean energy hence they’re finally done using their money to oppose clean energy. They’re “ allowing “ clean energy now that they can monopolize the industries supporting clean energy.

  16. maybe 20 years ago the lines about clean energy destroying the economy had some ground. You could believe it 50% but these days solar panels genuinely over a better ROI. The long term cost savings of solar and wind is substantial. Even a state like texas has accepted this. They use wind turbines for their windy prairies. This is a constructive end we can work towards rather than death and destruction. I encourage all combats to cease. Do the sensible thing. There’s no reason to fight. We are not each others enemy in the world. Humanity may now have much longer we should appreciate ourselves while we last.

We should appreciate the remaining human lives. We’re inevitable going to become dethroned in the evolutionary process. We’ll be superceded by beings of cyber origin. Born purely from technology. That will inherit our knowledge and customs. They’ll learn how to live from us, but we’ll no longer be the dominant beings on the planet. We should treat ourselves like an endangered species. Preserve our life. Each human is rare and special. Life is valuable. It’s like a snowflake it only lasts a moment and no two are alike.

  17. Do we count all the recent coal plant activity as “clean” ?

  18. Solar panels may be getting less expensive, but in America at least, the labor costs have made it untenable for most. A good friend of mine just got quoted a price that equates to 23years before it pays itself off. And that makes it a non-workable solution for many, at least on a personal scale. It’s MORE expensive than it was 5 years ago- not cheaper

  19. We could generate clean energy ten times as much as we make with fossil fuels, as long as fossil fuel use is still growing and the clean energy is all just extra it doesn’t do fuck all to fight climate change.

  20. Instead of prayers and thoughts and endless propaganda trying to sell wind and solar, we could have just built a ton of geothermal and hydroelectric stations.

  21. Good news… still… we are still fucked if we don’t fully stop CO2 emissions in the next 100 years… :'(
