  1. you cant be serious?! in german part of switzerland, there is no such stupid thing

  2. For information, this is a supermarket in Morges VD that opens 7j/7 (from Monday to Sunday non-stop). But when I visited there on a Sunday, a large propotion of the supermarket was behind a barrier. No bread, no eggs…

    I do understand alcoholic drinks are prohibited to sell at night, but what are the reasonings of sell ban on bread and egg ? And on a sunday afternoon ?

  3. lol TIL there are Lidls open on a sunday. Where is this??

  4. As far as i know, the specific rule in question isn’t that “you can’t sell these things during these times” but more like, “there is an exception to the opening hour rules, but only for items and services for travelers” so foods that don’t take much in preparation are more allowed, but im not sure on the rules exactly

  5. They can only sell stuffs a traveler needs on their journey.

    * Raw eggs? No. Boiled eggs? Yes.
    * Bratwurst? No. Cervelat? Yes.
    * Bread which has to be baked? No. Bread ready for consumption? Yes.

    Some of those “breads” could be sold, some not. Simpler just to block all off.

  6. I think its original idea was to protect workers. If you can’t go grocery shopping on Sunday it means that people that otherwise would be asked to work have a day off.

  7. This is the supermarket next to my house lol

    I do not really agree with the traveler stuff theory as this precise supermarket sells vegetable, raw meat and dry pasta in the sections open on Sunday and the coop pronto next to it sells raw eggs and a whole other bunch of stuff on Sunday

    From what I understood this Lidl is a full size Lidl but is technically “in the train station” and so has more opening hour privilege than in the reste of the city. But it seems that thoses privilege comes with size restrictions (exactly for this kind of scenario) so it partially close at the momens where it would be completely close if not considered in the train station

    The only other market in morges that has the same opening hours exception is the mentioned coop pronto but as it has the size you expect for a train station shop it is never partially closed/open
