Took the paranormal tour at the Crum last night and this was our first stop, the tunnel that brought you to the old Victorian jail from the ruined courthouse’s old holding cells across the street. 25,000 prisoners passed through this over a 150 year period.
At the end of this tunnel is a big and strangely wet iron door, the tour guide asked if anyone dared to volunteer to walk down to the bottom alone, in the pitch dark with only the occasional burst of torch light and knock it to see if there’d be any ghostly happenings, naturally I was the first(and only one) to step forward.
I walked down, with essentially only the aid of my fingerstips against the brick wall to find my way. I arrived at the door after what seemed like an eternity, the door was soaking, rusted and deathly cold, everything seemed damp and the air was noticeably colder, I was told to knock 3 times and listen. Somewhat apprehensively I did so…
‘boom’ ‘boom’ ‘boom’
slowly and loudly for dramatic effect, then I waited in the darkness for a response from beyond… alas I heard nothing but the draft and the faint sound of cars on the road above me, and after making a few jokes with the group listening further up just before I got ready to return to the them I heard the faint but unmistakable shuffle of feet beside me and the distinct feeling I was no longer alone in the dark, needless to say whilst I kept my cool I certainly quickened my step on way back up the tunnel 😂
Great night, great tour, such history.
Thoroughly recommend this tour. Has anyone else been here and had any casparian encounters?
