its not going to be popular, but logically if you are going to have a ground war that 1000s of your side could die, then a few 100 hostages are a secondary concern, the cold hard math is you bomb the munition site with a few hostages, potentially saving a lot more of your troops.
Obviously your calculation would be different if you did not have a ground war.
If you have a real number, say the real number. From where I stand, “almost 50” sounds like just another lie.
