Only 22% of Britons trust Sunak on climate, finds Guardian poll

  1. I’m someone who enjoys hating on Sunak but I feel having a poll by the Guardian isn’t necessarily going to be an accurate representation of the country.

If the S*n did a poll that showed only 30% trusted Sunak, now we’re getting somewhere.

  2. That pretty closely tracks with the level of UK [climate change denial](https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/trackers/belief-in-climate-change) (16% saying it’s not due to human activity & 5% saying it’s not changing at all) as polled by YouGov.

On a party level it’s 36% of Tories are climate change deniers vs 10% of Labour supporters & 9% of Lib Dems so if you care about the future then that should inform people’s votes. Unsurprisingly the 65+ crowd make up the highest % of climate change deniers and highest % of Tory supporters.

  3. In other news 22 percent of the UK are on really strong dementia medication

  4. Yeah, granting licences to extract oil from the North Sea while rolling back climate commitments will do that.

  5. Yeah, how many Britons – whatever they are – trust any politician on anything? List all the leaders of all the parties and ask the population the same say, six questions on major policy within that basic parameter “Do you trust so-and-so on this Policy or that Policy” and none will over 50% and may much less. The modern world and social media has killed off our willingness to believe (in) anything. We’d better get used to letting an authoritarian leader or collective (if you’re a leftie) take over, it’s the only way we’ll survive.

  6. Sunak could pull up my birth certificate and I’d still have to double check that he didn’t fuck it up

  7. And what those 22% really mean is they trust him to do nothing to negatively impact their shareholdings.

  8. Give him my trust!!?? Wouldn’t give him the steam off my last shite!!!

  9. 22% of Britons (polled) have the IQ of a potato.

That seems generous. We all know its closer to 50%.

  10. Asked the 22% who don’t know what Climate issues are

  11. 22% is only slightly less than the Tories are currently polling overall, so it’s probably the hard core supporters who trust them on climate change as they do with every other topic.

  12. That’s far too high for my liking. Sunak and the Tories are determined to water down our net zero promises to nothing over time, while also putting motorists above public transport, cycling infrastructure and pedestrianised cities. The only people who trust him on the climate are the gullible and those who have no desire to preserve it.

  13. Would love to know who these people are, must live in a delusional bubble
