I’m not even 4 minutes in yet, I don’t understand why you could see him as competent.

He admits to being inspired by Vlaams Blok which -reminder- was declared illegal due to racist. He seems to believe that all teachers were leftist when he was a kid and that it’s possible to be completely unbiased.

He says that VB wasn’t racist yet, but there were alreadt complaints filed in 2000 about things from 1997 & 1999, when he was 11 years old.

There are more things I disagree with, but these are mostly unproven but likely theories.

  1. The first mistake you made is take anything the far right says in good faith.

  2. Of course he was inspired by Vlaams Blok. He is the president of Vlaams Belang, which obviously is the same party.

  3. > He seems to believe that all teachers were leftist when he was a kid

As someone who was in the same class as Tom throughout all of the lower grades and then a couple in secondary school (until he got held back a year), I can confidently say that is a load of BS.

  4. Watched the whole thing. Gives a nice insight into how a big part of the population feels.
Now personally didn’t learn anything new, just the usual conservative stuff. Nuclear family, flemish culture, etc… At the end they got bogged down on lgbt stuff. Would have liked to hear some economic policies and views but didn’t get any. Does mention something about socialism at one point but the interviewer doesn’t pick up on it.

It was an interesting watch anyway.

  5. I think it’s always a weird twitch to think that people shouldn’t have an opinion in their professional life.

Athletes should never talk about politics, musicians should only make music, teachers cannot talk about an opinion.

It seems that some politicians would like that only politicians can have an opinion in their professional life.
