But it’s also not good for vini going in so easy.
Rodrygo is just having a bad season so far. He even admitted it himself. He is obviously the way more talented and versatile forward out of both, and still has his whole career ahead of him. Has also proven in the past that he’s a great finisher. If we’re talking about current form… Joselu, no doubt! Joselu’s been having the best stint of his career last couple of years, including this one.

I have to say about Rodrigo, in my opinion. There are too many attempts to play on the left and to try that Vini and Jude play well together. Rodrigo’s only role is to open up the defence.
And when the ball comes to him on the right. He has hardly any support to open up spaces and play through.
Carvajal should come in support. Carvajal only comes forward when modric is in the game.
That probably has to do with the protection at the back.
I wish that Rodrigo would be supported more against worse teams. So that he becomes more important again. Because Vini is also too easily distracted at the moment. And we are practically only dependent on Jude
Joselu went in as a pure 9 in a 4-3-3 formation. Rodrygo played in an awkward position and formation. . He was between a 9 and a winger, literally everywhere but still nowhere. 4-3-1-2. Balde pushed Fede waaay further back in the defence making Rodrygo cover too much space…
I believe 4-3-3 formation is much better vs barcelona.

When planning (the squad for) this season, we put main focus on midfield. We have the strongest midfield. We pay for this advantage with suboptimal strikers.
With our (ball winning) midfield, the idea is and must be to score via counters, and here rodrygo is perfect. However, he’s not the perfect player for possession, and opening a backed up defense when e.g. Being a goal down. Then, joselu is better. My problem with this: rodrygo is a top ten counter player. Joselu is not a top ten striker.
So I’d start with rodry, and switch to joselu at the 60th minute. And – Sorry for joselu – go for a striker in winter.

He is the one who can pass 2 or 3 players and score.
However, he has some mental challenges which take away his confidence.
He needs some meetings with sport psychologists.
On the other hand Vini presents overconfidence what makes him selfish and hard to accept on the pitch.

The only change I see him doing is put Modric and Kroos together in the midfield with Kroos playing CDM now that Tchouameni is out as well.
Just move Rodrygo and Mendy to the damn bench Carlo
