I wish Labour in Scotland were more like Labour in Wales. Labour in Wales seem to be focused on Wales rather than being ashamed of being Welsh.
Sometimes the simplest route is the best. Giving people money reduces poverty! Who would have guessed it!
This isn’t “lost” money though. Keeping people in poverty is expensive for a country. We want people to move out of poverty and be healthy, productive tax payers in the future so we can get this back.
This just illustrates why all devolved nations should have the same powers (ie give MORE powers rather than take away)
Wales should have the power to do this as the response to the question wasn’t that they thought it was wrong or there was a better way to do things but rather that they just CAN’T do it..
Does ensuring poor people have more money reduce the negative effects of poor people not having enough money?
