I already have massive issues with Nation States owning football clubs but when groups like the Saudi PIF start trading players among their clubs surely it contravenes Fifa rules, no? Are they gonna loan Newcastle Neymar and Ronaldo too if they lose anymore players?

  1. It may stick in the throat of non newcastle fans but the fact is, there is nothing illegal about this if it goes ahead.

  2. Conflict of interest aside, if I’m in charge of recruiting at any club I’m staying far away from Saudi. Players who go there have sent a pretty clear message about their own ambition, in my mind.

  3. At least people see Newcastle for what they are now. The arent plucky Newcastle doing well narrative was geting boring

  4. It’s Daily Mail reporting on a Talksport story. It’s probably not gonna happen but if it does then there’s nothing that breaks the rules.

Plenty of clubs have done similar whether Watford/Udinese, CFG clubs, Red Bull Clubs, etc etc. Multi club owners really shouldn’t exist.
