  1. Pretty much immediately after getting a 9 year contact renewal, they cancel 40% of the trains – on a route that is *already* busy with 50 trains per day.

    This doesn’t end well.

  2. Today I learned that the etymology of Manchester is basically “Boob Fortress”.

  3. National Express and Megabus must be happy to hear this

  4. Can’t be late if they aren’t scheduled in the first place

  5. How the fuck am i supposed to get to work meetings? Fly? Wow, that’s **great** for the environment

  6. This fucks with me in a big way since I don’t own a car, I have family living in Manchester and I have been purely dependent on rail transport until now.

The trains have already been crowded to an uncomfortable extent. I can’t imagine what condition they will be in now.

The result will probably be me having to get the coach, so fewer visits to parents; or I have to splurge on a car, which will tighten my budget even more.

It’s just squeezing you little by little. Every little pound of pressure like this adds up. And every step of the way you have the ‘outraged” apologists who will make excuses for the status quo: oh, it’s not that bad, quit crying; it’s not that bad because …

  7. Can’t wait for Rishi to come out and bang on about improving the North and public transport

  8. Well that will make the stockholders who don’t use the service very happy.

  9. > shortage of train crew

Nice PR department speak for “no one wants to work for a shit wage”

  10. I’ve been on this service a couple of times and it was never as bad as people made it out to be.

  11. From the party of levelling up! Yet again, everything gets shiter.
