  1. I’m doing some genealogical research before a trip out to Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria in a few weeks and coming up short on info on these two towns for my Great Grandparents. Any help would be much appreciated.

  2. They both sound extremely Slavic. Google says that the first one is the German name for Borovnice , a town in Czechia (at the time part of Austria Hungary). Probably the second one will be from around there as well. Check on their sub.

  3. Since you mentioned Slovakia, it has a former town named Borowitz, now [Borovce](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borovce)
The other one is trickier, but in the vicinity there is a town called [Dubovany](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubovany). It is just 5km (~3 miles) away if you check on the [map](https://maps.app.goo.gl/vbJ9UbQHy9vJc5am7?g_st=ic)

There are also Czech towns matching for Borowitz and Doubrava, here’s a [list](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_German_names_for_places_in_the_Czech_Republic)

Both the current Slovakia and Czech Republic were part of Austria-Hungary at the time.

I am just guessing based on what I found, the Slovakian ones seem pretty likely. Maybe others can confirm or find a better match. Good luck with your research!
