Maybe the Russians overextended themselves, and Ukraine has a chance to do some damage before reserves arrive
Imagine if the flanks collapsed, the assaulting force was surrounded.

I have not seen confirmation of this anywhere and it first appeared several hours ago. Waiting for some kind of confirmation.

But in general the idea to flank an exposed and exhausted offensive force is nothing new. But due to little progress the Russians also are still in prepared positions they are holding for months now.
So depending on the situation on ground it could be everything from a waste of resources to a great chance to bring those units trained for mobile warfare to good use and make the Russians suffer greatly and loose every progress they made.
A quick larger scale territorial progress seems unrealistic though. Only a relief of the fortress and a score in the war of attrition.
In my experience, that is not one of the more reliable accounts.

edit: It is not “Ruzzians in Orlivka”. The action is near Orlivka/Avdiivka. The Russians did NOT make a major breakthrough.
