Hello everyone,

we recently had mold in the bedroom. As a result, I also wanted to check the mattresses. We have two Emma One mattresses for about 3 years.

On the outside of both mattresses, the foam has a strong yellowish discoloration and yellowish “crusts” have also formed. The mattress does not smell strange on the yellow areas, only on the underside, which is not discolored at all, the mattress smells somewhat strangely chemical.

Can you help me? Maybe someone also has these mattresses and could tell me if yellow discoloration has also formed there?

Thank you very much!

  1. Often natural sweat stains the mattress yellow. But not only night sweating, but also common oxidation of the foam mattress can be the cause. Not dangerous or harmful to health.

  2. I’m no expert, but that doesn’t look like mold to me.

It’s a three year old mattress, discoloration is probably normal.

  3. Since it’s only a thin layer right where the two materials meet Ithink it could also be some kind of adhesive, that has a different colour or maybe changed colour over time.
