According to DB, only 75.2% of its inter-city services known as the ICE and IC trains reached their destinations on time (in 2021). This represents a significant dip from 82% in 2020 (from article text, not in title)

  1. The trains were only more punctual in 2020 because barely anyone used the trains. So they could depart on time which normally doesn’t happen. It always looks like DB forgets that the passengers have to enter and leave the train.

  2. Do ICE trains in Germany have their own dedicated tracks or is it shared? One of the reasons why the Japanese Shinkansen is so punctual and efficient is because they have their own dedicated track.

  3. As someone who has only recently moved to Germany I was shocked by the the fact that the train system is as full of delays and cancellations as it is in Italy, if not more. But more expensive.
