The government’s “matching exercise” is chasing down the 10-20% of remaining cash in hand rental situations will lead to these cheap tenancies ending. You know the lads paying €450 for a 3 bed dump in Carlow or somebody renting undeclared off family? These are in the firing line. For example that Carlow dump will be renovated only slightly and be back as an official, taxed rental for €1450 or sold.
who the fuck cares how many landlords have left the market. This is not news, it’s FF/FG fear-mongering so they can continue the same shit they’ve been doing for a hundred years.
I want 100% of the landlords to leave the market so affordable public housing can be a thing.
The journal is right. There isn’t substantiated evidence for a mass exodus of landlords, the minister is just running with that claim because it suits his policy of landlord tax breaks.

So many sold their units trying to cash in. Greedy cunts. They bought houses for 80k sold them for 400 and still tried to get more. The only people that can buy are funds or a certain class of the population (even upper middle class can’t afford to buy anymore) but sure let’s just sit there do nothing but moan on internet.
Even if landlords ‘left the market’, it’s not like the houses they were renting out just evaporated with them?
As long as they don’t get snatched up by vulture funds who cares?
