With all this happening I am genuinely shocked and saddened every time someone tells me they think all covid restrictions should be lifted right now.
Why? The last time they built whole “Nightingale hospitals” they weren’t used and sat empty until they started to be tore down. There’s one up in sunderland freshly built that never got used for anything other than the vaccine. Hundreds of rooms boarded off and using the front 3. Nonsense.
I would prefer sustained long term panning and support for the NHS but this is the Tories so all we get are knee-jerk temporary solutions and a bunch of clapping…
Still no restrictions in England, no one will take it seriously if the government doesn’t.
Same as the previous Nightingales: they can create as many beds as they like but without doctors, nurses, AHPs and support staff to go with them, it’s just a meaningless stunt to look like they’ve done something.
Exactly what I suggested in last night’s thread! And a great idea. Bed-blocking because there’s nowhere to discharge people is a real problem and – unlike the original Nightingales, set up as surge ICUs or at least oxygen beds – this can be run with minimal staffing.
So with normal hospitals desperately short of staff, these are simply going to sit empty and do nothing other than waste money / make “feel good” / “But we did something” headlines
Do we have enough staff (including the support) to man these…..?
So how are they going to staff them. They couldn’t staff them last time just another PR stunt.
You mean more improperly set up medical services that line the pockets of some inept Tory while barely helping anyone? Great.
Where are the hospitalisation data from the last week and a half?
