  1. Temp accommodation spending from £750k to £5.6m for one council. That’s insane

  2. Absolutely the number one thing the next government should be concentrating on is building social housing and getting rid of right to buy.

  3. 40 years of the UK public voting out any local party who didn’t stand on a NIMBY platform would do that.

Good councillors lose their seats for supporting local houses.

Perhaps young people who want more houses built in their area should turn up to vote at local elections which typically have a pathetic 30% turnout of mostly retired, housed people who don’t want change to the status quo.

  4. So many public services are collapsing, the whole country is plunging further into poverty, and local authorities just can’t keep up… while the Tories want to find more tax cuts!

  5. There needs to be a huge and I mean **HUGE** fucking change in how housing is dealt with.

No one can buy/rent so go into emergency housing, emergency housing is effectively brought by the government with either these unaffordable house/rent prices or building up from scratch.

In some cases you end up with government paying landlords because normal people can’t.
The rent system, which is to pay to occupy a space is grossly overpriced.

There should be a law that no price of rent should exceed the price of maintenance of a property.
This would make renting a lot more affordable while also motivating landlords to fix up their properties.
Also restrict how many properties an individual can rent to one

The whole supply and demand of properties/renting is just shit, EVERYONE needs a home no matter who you are, the fact that prices change because there is not enough is predatory.
