“Nine people were killed in the city of Volnovakha in the Russian military-controlled part of the Donetsk region of Ukraine. Two children were among those killed. According to a number of reports, the murder could have been committed by a Russian serviceman; this has not been officially confirmed.
The day before, the Investigative Committee of Russia announced the initiation of a criminal case under the article of murder of two or more persons. The report said that the bodies of the dead were found in a private house that belonged to the deceased family, with gunshot wounds.
The Astra telegram channel, citing local residents, neighbors and relatives of the killed, claims that the murder was committed by a Russian military man. According to the channel’s interlocutors, the murder occurred on October 27 in a private residential building on Donetskaya Street. The house belonged to a family – a husband and wife, they had two children, a schoolgirl girl and a 4-year-old boy. All of them were allegedly killed, as were five other people who were in the house. It is alleged that these were guests who were celebrating a birthday.
The circumstances of the murder remain unclear. Some of Astra’s interlocutors, as well as local chat users, claim that shortly before the murder, the Russian military man had quarreled with the owner of the house. According to a number of reports, the murder was committed by “military men on motorcycles,” and at a time when the people in the house were sleeping.
Officially, the Investigative Committee, representatives of the Russian authorities and the military did not comment on these reports.
Volnovakha was occupied by Russian troops in March 2022. During the fighting, the city was seriously destroyed. Now he is relatively far from the front line. Russian authorities consider the city, like the entire Donetsk region, to be Russian territory.”

I’ve just seen the photos of the dead in their home on another subreddit. Sickening. Even if it was some sort of “revenge” after an argument…why? “Mm yes killing the whole group in beds incl the children is an appropriate response”? Like, what the fuck?

I read on Telegram channels that the killings weren’t carried out by regular Russian troops but by a Chechen unit (part of the Russian army ofc). According to the Telegram channel, the head of the family had an argument with some Chechen soldiers and that later they came back at night, murdered the man and his family. Just to provide context or details so don’t get your panties all twisted.
Just another reason to not talk to russians. Ever.
So disgusting. It’s long overdue a full trade imbargo of Russia. The west needs to get its shit together and give Ukraine enough to end it.
