  1. This should read “Shortage of police officers causes delays in investigations as they don’t have the numbers to safely execute high risk warrants”.

The reality is that bike theft is so low on the priority list that police are never going to be able to proactive. If a member of the public was threatened with an angle grinder you would have the whole team attend because there’s life at risk.

  2. They needed to send more than one officer to the address because the thieves had an angle grinder.

    And?

Why not send… more than one officer, then?

Or is it just an excuse because they couldn’t be bothered?

  3. Classify angle grinders as a firearm and send the Armed Response Unit round.

  4. New York had a police culture in the 70s of prioritising police time on serious crimes and that meant ignoring small ones and crime grew and grew (hence Hollywood’s era of dystopian films like Escape from New York) despite all that targetting of resources, and then they decided to target the small stuff and counter intuitively they found that it was this that was feeding serious crime as crime collapsed when the police took control of the streets again. Well the Met have taken that lesson and decided to ignore it.

  5. We were promised flying cars but ended up with same bicycles and bike theft.
