Crossing the floor should be an immediate by-election.
I understand why it’s not in order to allow someone to drop their affiliation and sit as an independent so a party can’t easily remove elected officials they don’t like, but moving to another party should be grounds for an immediate election.
An MP, MSP, and a councillor defecting all in the space of a week? Yikes.
