Is it normal behaviour for ladybugs to gather like this? Is this a thing that usually happens around this time of the year in the UK/England?
They are literally everywhere around my windows on this side of the building, and inside my flat, I found it cute at first, but now it’s just grossing me out.
I feel like it’s an infestation, but the landlord said it’s normal for ladybugs to do this in the UK. This window doesn’t close all the way up either, so they are everywhere in my flat. 🥲
How do you deal with this, if it is truly normal behaviour?

I guess?
Yes.
They might be Asian Lady Beetles. They’re invasive and not very fun. Their head has a black M shape whereas ladybugs do not. Ladybugs are harmless, the lady beetle not so much
They group up to hibernate – there’s is no risk to you or your property this creature eats aphids not houses ☺️
No, it is not normal behaviour to call them “ladybugs” in the UK.
Everything else about this situation seems fine though. Ladybirds are cute – enjoy their company.
I think they’re called harlequin ladybirds, they want out of this cold weather and into somewhere warm.
I do remember reading somewhere that some of them can bit into your pets ears and mouths and latch on.
Pretty normal ladybird behaviour. They are looking for somewhere safe and dry to wait out the cold winter months.
If you have any space outside, buying or building a nice little “bug hotel” will give them an option that isn’t your house. You can create one by layering sticks together in a crisscross pattern and putting it somewhere it’ll be protected from rain but get some sun to warm it up.
I usually find all my little visitors in the spring when they crawl out from wherever they got in and hid. Spend a couple of weeks catching and releasing them back outside. Can’t say I’ve ever noticed them do any harm, they usually find a tiny crevice to settle into.
It’s the mild weather keeping them about a bit longer this year, they’ll be looking to hibernate. Be aware they can bite especially as there are few aphids about at this time of year.
The *ladybirds* will be looking for somewhere sheltered to hibernate for the winter. They are harmless and good company 🥰
Ladybirds not Ladybugs that American
I would be more concerned with the fact that you’re renting a flat that has windows which don’t close all the way, considering we’re about to go into the wettest and coldest months of the year. Ladybirds are harmless. They’re probably coming in from the trees outside.
Have you tried asking them?
I’ve noticed this today too! I’ve seen loooads.
*Ladybird
Lady*bugs?* That’s not normal, for a start…
Ladybirds were English not American.
