Child asylum seekers in UK forced to share hotel rooms with adults

  1. Are the adults they’re sharing with a threat?

Were they kept separate from them in France?

  2. Last time this came up all the usual anti-migrant posters seemed genuinely confused about concepts like safe-guarding or why it might be concerning to have random adults sharing sleeping quarters with random children, other than to further paint all adult asylum seekers as child rapists. Truly a spectacle to behold. I wonder if this thread will go the exact same way?

Always the easy response – Would you be happy knowing your teacher, a responsible British adult vetted by a background check, was sleeping in the same room as your kids on a school trip? Or the more stereotyped – Would you be suspicious of the scout master getting into the cubs tents at night?

  3. I’m sure these streetwise 16 & 17 year olds, who managed to make it to the UK unaccompanied will be just fine sharing a room with adults.

  4. Are they actually children or are they 6ft3 Eritrean men with beards who say they’re 17?

From the article – The Guardian interviewed seven young asylum seekers in Yorkshire this week, and all said they told border guards that they were 16 or 17 on arrival in the UK by small boat in August and September – but all said they were wrongly classified as adults by officials and given ages between 22 and 26.

Everyone listed in the article has been unable to show they’re children

  5. We’re they at risk and safeguarded on a small boat?

Did their parents do a background check on the rest of those travelling on the boats?

What about a risk assessment of that boat reaching UK?

Happy enough to take all above risks now they want a private room with the ensuite?
Maybe France could been a better option after all.

  6. I’m sure this thread will go really smoothly with no issues at all

  7. When they’re 6’4” and built like a brick shithouse it’s probably the roommate who is at greater risk.

  8. Suddenly white men will be interested in visiting and “helping” out the children in the hotels 👀

  9. The report repeats ” arrived in small boats”. That’s how I’d say arriving illegally. If you’ve started your stay in UK by breaking Law and potentially lying to authorities, how can you preach for rights?

  10. Yeah I remember the pictures of the “children”.

    Its all a con.
