John Cleese reposted an image of Boris Johnson to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote that he could not believe GB News had hired a “serial liar”:

John Cleese used to be awesome. These days he’s turning into everything that a young John Cleese would have hated. Between his racist comments about London and his general moaning about anyone under the age of 50, he’s finally turned into the sort of person who fits in well on GB News.
I’ve always liked John Cleese. His criticism of the British press, which goes back some years, struck me as more radical and honourable than most other stuff I was hearing.
I don’t see anything morally unconscionable, on the face of it, in accepting a platform on right-wing-slanted GB News on the conditio that he made, that he gets to speak his mind about basically whatever he wants, including criticisng the Tory government.
And he does criticise the Tories consistently. There is no indication he is a “right-winger”.
He isn’t woke for sure, and good for him. Frankly, a lot of Millennials and even more Gen Z are censorious crybabies with absolutely no clue of the totalitarian system they’re ushering in, whereby nobody is comfortable to speak their mind.
The idea that only hate-speech-utterers have anything to fear, is exactly as unfounded as the claim during the wars of religion, that only heretics and apostates have something to fear. You honestly think that the censor culture isn’t going to be abused by wicked people, by powerful people, or both? That it isn’t being abused already?
