  1. I expect the comments here will be civil and measured in tone.

  2. This is ridiculous. The shooting was sad but justified.

Officer NX121, if you are reading this, know that so many of us are rooting for you.

  3. Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear.

I’m absolutely certain that this will end well even if they’re found not guilty.

Then again, there’s always the good old deed poll.

  4. I wonder if we’ll have more firearms officers handing in their weapons over this, I’m sure that was a threat that went around last time if the defendant was named.

  5. > The judge will continue to restrict publication of the address of the officer and any images or drawings of him.

Good thing there haven’t been any data breaches that would provi-

    Oh.

  6. Fully expect people to do their nut about this so few things to keep in mind:

The UK Police are subject to the same laws as we are – they arent judge, jury and executioner.
Theres a huge amount of hearsay and we dont actually know what really happened.
There is body cam footage we havent seen.

  7. I’m sure people commenting here knows the law better than a judge.

  8. It’s interesting the judge has okayed naming him but not his address and images of him. Seems a weird halfway house of a judgement imo, given the ability of the internet to do some digging on social media etc.

  9. No.

You do not name the accused officer while the trial is still outstanding.

If you do, even if he’s found not guilty, he can no longer return to police work, and, frankly, he’s going to struggle to work ever again, permanently.

If he’s found **guilty**, ***then*** you name him, especially in a case where everyone prior to you has repeatedly declined to press any charges (including, and especially, the IPCC).

  10. This is blatant knee bending it wasn’t murder anyone who knows the story can see that Kaba was wanted for murder he tried to get away by running over a police officer the police officer shot him the officer should be getting a medal not charged with murder this wouldn’t be happening if the Kaba was white

  11. This is insane. The footage is so fucking clear about what happened, it’s an absolute disgrace for murder charges to be brought against this officer. An absolute fucking disgrace.

  12. How is shooting someone trying to run you over considered murder?

  13. Only in Britain would we prosecute an officer and name and shame them for doing their fucking job against a dangerous maniac.

  14. Someone somewhere, with powers to make stuff move in the legal system, has a major hard-on for this case.

  15. None of you know what happened, this is a fact. All I know is if you think you know what is on evidence you haven’t seen yet, I have a great deal for you on some property. No, you can’t look at it.

  16. Genuinely hope Firearms Officers hand their tickets in over this and stick to it. Not a good outcome for anyone concerned and I think it leads to a completely slippery slope where there is no upside to trying to uphold the law. Its the same as the ducking auditors that wander into public service locations with the prime aim of stirring up shift for YouTube clicks.

  17. This happens to suspects in gang shootings too, where there is some risk of retaliation if the suspect is named. Its important for the courts to show that police do not get additional protections above the public if they are suspected of serious crimes like murder.

  18. I genuinely can’t get my head around this case being progressed unless there is something we don’t know like a WhatsApp message saying “gonna kill someone today” or something else ludicrous.

Unless we simply can’t trust the criminal justice system anymore?

  19. Oh good so the right wing lunatics can give this guy a go fund me page too.

  20. What’s ironic is a lot of people are claiming this is wrong as he hasn’t been judged to be guilty.

Yet, Kaba didn’t even get a chance to stand trial and the vast majority of people in the subreddit believe the death sentence was fair for Kaba. I for one am worried about police officers being allowed to be judge, jury, and executioner unless it is undoubtedly a case of life or death for themselves or someone else.

  21. What a fucking joke

We need to support our police but it seems like the system is out to get them. Cant blame anyone of them for walking out.

  22. Does anyone know the stats as to how many comments are usually made on a subject before the discussion is completely derailed to another subject?

  23. So are they gonna share any explanation or info on wtf happened?

Also he’s gonna get doxxed almost immediately

  24. Anonymity should be maintained until the outcome of the case and any appeals is known.

If there is really a genuine concern about justice being done, and the case is so obvious that the officer is guilty, then the case should be heard as quickly as possible.

Equally that same concern for justice means that until the law is clarified, all firearms activity by the police should be immediately suspended until they can confidently operate within the framework of the law.

It is always going to be a complex case due to the fact that the person begin shot was always a legitimate potential outcome.
