  1. Tbh there’s one on my car that I set manually to the limit on each road because I wouldn’t be the slowest driver, and it has saved my hole with the speed vans a few times.

  2. Im not for speeding at all but if we can easily remove the 180km/h speed limiter on Japanese imported cars we can easily remove any limiter they put on 2022 cars.

  3. I have one in my company car, it gives feedback on when I exceeded the limit and how long I stayed over it, but I can still go the speed I want. If its the same device, it does make me more aware of my driving behaviour

  4. It’s not a speed limiter, literally just vibrates the steering wheel when you exceed the speed limit. You can also turn it off.

  5. The government couldn’t afford to lose the revenue of everyone obeying the speed limit. Also, people can be killed in the roads without speed being the main contributor.

  6. I think this is all a waste of time, it’s all band aid stuff to avoid doing the one thing that would make a difference, proper training and education. I feel like a lot of drivers are borderline incompetent. There are people that think if they are slow they are safe and start looking out the window at what’s happening in fields beside the road, they wobble back and over on the road more engrossed in the conversation they are having with their passenger than what happen on the road in front of them.

Cars have never been better and safer than they are now. Drivers have become dependant on the car to save them from their own lack of skills and eventually the cars systems can’t make up for the poor driving habits.

  7. I think they’re forgetting how many people they will piss off and lose votes because of this nanny state idea. Bmw/mercedes/audi etc sell a hell of a lot of cars in Ireland….. and what about Suzuki/Kawasaki/Yamaha….. do we just give up bikes as well? An R1 can do 160 in first gear.

How long before they decide its for the best if they have the location and journey data recorded as well.
It’s not a big leap to think they’d want access to that.

  8. Every car I’ve had since 2005 has and this fitted. Volkswagens and Nissans for what it’s worth.

Nothing to see here, move along.

  9. No one seems to have a read the article. This is about notifications in dashboards indicating you’re above the speed limit. My car, and many others, already has this.
