This guy literally gets to decide what bills the House can vote on. He can kill a bill by simply refusing to schedule a vote.
In a sane world, there would be alternate plans released by the different interest groups. They would all be made available for Representatives and staff to review. And they would vote on all of them until one passed.
The Speaker would still have a lot of power as they could decide the order of the bills. But they would no longer have what amounts to veto power that appears nowhere in the Constitution.
Similarly, there should also be a rule in the Senate that somehow forces it to vote on bills the House passes.
If the R’s love Russia so much, they should move there. Probably quite a few job openings now with all the planting Ukraine has been doing.
