Sen. Mitch McConnell criticizes the “loud voices on both sides of the aisle” who oppose Ukraine aid: “The path toward greater security for all of us is simple: Help Ukraine win the war.”

  1. Western radical nutjobs have other plans. The alt-right took it out on Ukraine, while the alt-left is now having their way siding with Hamas over Israel, despite Hamas being funded by Iran, which is a Russian ally. Everyone wants to push their own domestic agenda, rather than unite to face a common, increasingly strong and determined enemy.

At some point, you just stop caring. You can’t help win those who don’t want to win; those who would rather destroy their own country to get ahead in the ensuing chaos, than help protect and build it. If the crazies tear the US and Western world apart, they have only themselves to blame.

  2. I’m glad to see support for Ukraine in both parties.

    TY Mitch.

  3. “Both sides” … name a Democrat Senator that voted against Ukraine aid.

  4. I never thought I would see the day when Mitch is too far to the left.

  5. Either the victory of Ukraine or Russia will prove that WMD-blackmail strategy allow WMD-imperialism without any impunity, that WMD-might makes right. Which leads to destruction of International Law and WMD-proliferation.

  6. “Voices on both sides”? What voices on the Democratic side? I know of none in the Senate, and in the house there may be a few who want Ukraine aid to be carefully followed for use vs misuse but rejecting aid to Ukraine outright? I am staring right now at statements made by AOC in support of aid to Ukraine published on twitter and made in the House, and generally she is construed as being one of the “liberal” dems with a highly social democratic orientation.

I know she and others signed a statement in summer 2022 stipulating they favored negotiation on top of aid. Probably today many would not sign that statement, given what Russia has done to not only Ukrainians but even their own people. But withholding aid? She voted in favor of every Ukraine aid bill to date to my best knowledge and I believe will vote for this one as well.

Aid to Ukraine is a minute part of the American budget. And most of the dollars are expended in America. Given the outcome of significant degradation of Russian war capacity it is the bargain of the century.

  7. Is that the aisle separating the merely cruel Republicans from the cruel and crazy Republicans?

  8. Mitch was all on board with future inmate Trump back in the day but it’s like he’s seen him for the traitor he was and is trying to make up for it.

  9. Sadly this issue has become pure politics.

In this thread alone we see people jumping all over the “it is only Republicans who oppose it” as the issue they have with what he is saying.

Even more sadly, far too many people don’t understand how supporting Ukraine prevents other countries from being forced to get involved directly as NATO members. Because only a fool believes Putin will stop with Ukraine.
