Hi All,
Does anyone have any idea on the name of this pub on this mug? It was my step-dads fathers from his favourite pub- recovered from their house after it was bombed in WWII.
He has never been able to figure out the name of the pub but was hoping to be able to visit if anybody can and if still exists!

Sorry! Should also add we’re fairly confident the first line says Islington
The Free…?
of
Isling” Road?
Where you’ve some fragments of location and name you could try trawling through https://www.closedpubs.co.uk/london.html and see if anything looks like it may match.
The T..
I don’t think it’s a F, it’s a T
does he know where he lived? the general area might make it easier, since it would probably be local
It seems to refer to Islington Road, which, based on my [sleuthing](https://www.foldingmaps.co.uk/watermark.php?productId=719&number=1) is now renamed as an extended part of St John Street (everything North of Percival Street). Based on that, [this page](https://www.closedpubs.co.uk/london/ec1_clerkenwell.html) covers closed pubs in the area including many on St John Street, so maybe one of them could be a potential match? For those who are better at deciphering, the ones on this list are below. If you can work out which numbers on St John Street used to be Whitechapel Road you should be able to narrow it down further (Edit: looks like numbers 246 to 426).
The Adam and Eve
The Bell
The Clown
The Coach & Horses
The Corner PIN
The Criterion
The Cross Keys
The Crown
The Crown & Woolpack
The Empress of Russia
The George
The Golden Anchor
The Golden Lion
The Hat & Mitre
The Horns (this one might be a possibility as the word is quite short and it looks like there is a straight vertical line next to the start of the missing word? Except it is no 99 so probably not the bit that used to be Islington Road)
The Princess Royal
The Queen Boadicea
St John of Jerusalem
The Swan with Two Necks
The White Bear
The White Hart Inn
The Windmill
