  1. Alongside them, countless civilians who have signed up to join in the fight against Russia. Stacey Dooley meets a group of Ukrainians as they arrive in the UK to begin five weeks of intensive army training before their deployment to the frontline.

In this one-off documentary for BBC Three and iPlayer, Stacey Dooley follows a group of Ukrainian civilians as they arrive in the UK to begin five weeks of intensive army training. With exclusive and unprecedented access to the British Army’s training mission, the recruits learn to survive and to be lethal, as they prepare for deployment to the frontline fighting against Russia.

  2. Proud that we can help train these heroes, what little training we can provide in such a short time (took over 9 months training when I served as infantry) will still hopefully serve them well in theatre.

    Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦 🇬🇧

  3. Is there any information that shows how well units trained by brits/usa/etc have performed in combat? I’d be interested to read that.

  4. As a former British Army soldier that was a hard watch at the end, brought a tear to my eye. Proud that the British’s army are helping and proud that the Ukrainian’s are maturing at an amazing pace.

I did 12 months as a boy (junior leaders) soldier followed by 3 months “adult” continuation training. I went to the first gulf war shortly after and I felt under prepared. To be fair to these lads their section attack up a hill was 10x better than mine after 12 months of training. I hope they all turn into warriors and return home to their families.

  5. Pasha reminds me of my older brother who joined the military after 9/11. He left for training as a smart quiet guy and came back a year and a half later as an absolute force to be reckoned with. 20+ years later he’s still a stone cold killer. God speed Pasha.
