  1. >The court heard that the 29-year-old defendant had planned the attack and searched the internet for topics including American Unabomber terrorist Theodore Kaczynski, attacks on women, and white supremacy.

    >Mr Forte rejected any terrorist connection, saying the depressed defendant’s twin motivations were being “ghosted” by another former American co-worker who was the “object of his affections”, and a desire to hurt his ex-employer.

Sounds like an alt-right incel loser who took his relationship and employment failures out on a woman and dressed it up as some kind of noble fight against spooky misdeeds by intelligence agencies

  2. They certainly don’t fuck about if you attack someone “important”.

  3. ann sacoolas destroyed any sympathy I may have held for Americans in Britain.

  4. My immense sympathies to 99230. A despicable act by Bowles, and totally undeserved by the victim(s).

What some may argue as being “terrible acts” are sometimes necessary for basic decency and humanity to prevail, and ultimately for our civilization’s values to survive in the world we progress into. While there are strong checks and balances, and a real and well observed moral compass that guides most decision making, there will always be some who cannot see the greater picture or who cannot grasp the reality of the threats we face and the need for certain capabilities to be leveraged.

While we in the UK may be more cautious and more morally restrained than our institutionally younger and less experienced colleagues over the Atlantic, we can trust them to do the right thing (at least after trying everything else). In any event, they are our friends and allies, not our enemies.
