  1. The situation, in one word? Doom. The western nations have screwed over Ukraine with their drip-feed support, incompetent officers have squandered much needed assets in questionable situations, and now the russians and their inhuman hordes have breathing room to at least hold the land they have clawed out of the Ukrainian people. Im sorry, very very very sorry, but unfortunately i don’t see many options besides a negotiated peace to ending this conflict. At least Ukraine still has the strength to not accept all of the ludicrous russian demands, but still.

  2. It’s absurd that this could even happen. That after 20 months of war the West was unable to:

    1. Introduce effective sanctions, without purchases of “diluted oil” and “+1400% of exports to Kazakhstan.” Not to mention transfer of frozen funds.
    2. Help Ukraine with at least 5% of the weapons available to the NATO: 20 000 aviation (plus tens of thousands paramilitary), 12 400 tanks ([https://www.statista.com/statistics/1293174/nato-russia-military-comparison/](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1293174/nato-russia-military-comparison/)), 10 000 artillery, 50 000 armored vehicles, 900 000 light-armored transport, 3 300 Rocket Launchers, 2 200 military vessels, ~15 000 high range and >50 000 middle range missiles, over 500 000 glide bombs. And so on. When only some cheap trainer aviation with 25,000/500,000 of JDAM (24-75km; 220-970kg) and AGM-154 (22-130km; 500kg) glide bombs potentially could end the war.
    3. Even provide weapons on time, not start supplying offensive weapons after a year of war, behind two big waves of Russian mobilization and creation of 3-level defense lines.
    4. Now, a little more than a year after announcement of Lend-Lease (simple weapon transfer mechanism completely independent from politics), Ukraine must think about likelihood of continuation of USA arm assistance. The essence of which is already expressed by the word “stabilization”, or words “slow weakening of Russia” (which only gave Russia 2 years for adaptation).

Did the West have stopped thinking about Trust Capital altogether?

If a similar situation is possible with country that:

    1. European democracy.
    2. Gave up third nuclear arsenal for security guarantees of International Law. And by deception – [https://nationalinterest.org/feature/deceit-dread-and-disbelief-story-how-ukraine-lost-its-nuclear-arsenal-207076](https://nationalinterest.org/feature/deceit-dread-and-disbelief-story-how-ukraine-lost-its-nuclear-arsenal-207076)
    3. Serial victim of aggression from totalitarian state, that de-facto use WMD-blackmail for unpunished WMD-imperialism. Proving that WMD-might make right. Sponsoring destruction of International Law and subsequent WMD-proliferation.
    4. A victim of verified ethnocide (in regions where 75% of the population identified Ukrainian language as their native language, it is prohibited, under “threat” of execution, to speak not by Russian language).
    5. Is fighting against main (China – rational agent, Russia – irrational agent) military and second political rival of the West, a complete ideological antagonist that want to return 19th century norms and morals.

Then what will happen to the others if a similar situation occur again, with them?

What fractions of a percent of Western values will be allocated to help them?

How many Christian’s compassion, forgiveness and mutual assistance? How many of Magna Carta’s Rule of Law? How many of the Renaissance’s Rational Humanism? How many the French Revolution’s “Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite”? How many Commandments of Founding Fathers about fight against clerical despotism?

  3. I’m absolutely terrified; if Ukraine loses, the western world has single handedly incentivised the world to A. Obtain nuclear weapons, B. Annex countries without nuclear arms. You can bet that countries that weren’t considering nuclear weapons are probably changing their tune.

  4. If you read the article it’s a lot more bleaker than the title makes it out to be. Hate to day i told all you that lived off hopium here for the past year, BUT I TOLD YOU SO!!!

  5. Don’t give up yet. We are still fighting for Ukraine in the US, despite the loud voices of some who have shamefully traded in the ideals of liberty for those of corruption and cowardice.

  6. This doesn’t actually make sense. Nobody should be expecting short-term results. This was always going to be a long war. Ukraine is doing quite well in historical context and should not push themselves. Ukraine is doing better than the UK was did the first years of WW2 for example, and that was better than just about everybody else in Europe did!

  7. An attempt to depict VZ as deluded. The logical corollary: it is time to accept Russia’s victory. That’s bullshit. The West can sustain this fight far longer than Rissia can, and can bring Russia to its knees with adequate arms.

  8. Putin was scheduled to attend and speak at some conference in Russia tomorrow.
    His appearance has been cancelled.

One would think with all the rumors of his death , which they have already denied publicly, that this is the one public appearance, he would make .

    Unless he’s really dead .

Him dying of natural causes is a huge victory for Ukraine. Their country will have outlasted him .

The west is impatient, we are a microwave society.

Putin being dead is the kind of event , that will keep the funds flowing.

  9. It’s getting bleak for the Z army. It’s no coincidence the calls for ceasefire have started from Moscow.

  10. The GOP is so pathetic. I wish whatever political or karmic justice upon them and may their treason and cowardice haunt them until they can’t win an election for local crossing guard.

One thing I wish Biden would do NOW: start sending all of those thousands upon thousands of cluster rockets for HIMARS. They’re literally going to cost us money to have them decommissioned. Tell that to the scum in the GQP, we’re saving money.

  11. Europe deserves what is coming their way. They have forgotten WWII and will appease Putin just like they did Hitler. This time however the West will not win. There are no more men willing to fight. The new generation of men are soft having been feminized. Russian men have nothing to lose their lives are crap already keep them fueled with vodka and they will rape and pillage Europe.
Either Europe and the USA go all in to ensure Ukraine victory or they should start studying Russian language and begin construction of vodka distilleries in France and Germany.

  12. I agree with Zelensky. Our leaders in the West are doing nothing but emboldening our enemies. They are just showing them that the “world order” is bullshit. it literally makes me sick to my stomach.

  13. Zelensky needs to be made to understand that there is a limit to the amount of support he can reasonably request in such a short period time. He needs to drop this idea the war is going to end anytime soon and adopt more sustainable war fighting tactics.

Zelensky’s decision to go “all-in” at Bakhmut is being looked at very differently in Western capitals now that the summer offense has largely failed to produce any meaningful gains. While Russia was sending cannon fodder prisoners to die in that battle Ukraine was using up a lot of very valuable troops and equipment. Those kind of decisions are being looked at very critically in Western capitals.

Ukraine’s allies aren’t going to abandon it at this stage. If the West gets another summer of General Zelensky though all bets are off.
