
I have to admit that a solid offer of £2.5m for something that the council’s had sitting in a shed for years does leave me thinking that it’s not a bad shout to sell it, and get some real benefit for the community – as long as it goes towards something identifiable rather than just lost into regular expenditures.

It was in a shed. “The people of Scotland” weren’t benefitting from it anyway. Flog it!
Once it goes into private hands it’s gone forever. Down that road only rich people get to look at beautiful or important objects from history.
