  1. Their charm offensive will find local collaborators in all us Americans who visit this subreddit.

  2. So republicans don’t just want to nuke their relations With ukraine and make america a joke for the title ‘defender of democracy’. But they also want to piss off europe their biggest trading partner and nato ally? When do they get charged with treason? Any person who still indentifies as republican is a commie in my eyes now

  3. So, what would I, as a European, use in the argument:

1.) The US got rid of old military stock, that had been or would have been phased out anyway. This leads to new equipment purchases. Since almost all US military equipment is manufactured in the US, that means job security and possibly more jobs for American workers. It also means that the US military will get the latest and greatest and won’t have to play around with old equipment. This would even fit in neatly with the MAGA and “America First” ideas, that are floating around with a part of the Republicans.

2.) The war shows how good Western military equipment is in comparison to Soviet/Russian one, including that from the US. This has led and will lead to more purchases from other nations of said equipment. Again, since a lot of the production will be done in the US, workers will be needed for that.

3.) Supporting a democratic country, that is, even during a war, trying to weed out corruption, is preferable to supporting a country that has not truly seen a change in leadership in decades. This would show US allies and trade partners, too, that the US is a reliable partner, even in bad times. In turn you could secure more contracts for US firms, again, employing a lot of people and potential voters.

These are just three that I’d come up with right on the spot. There are quite a few more propositions that you could make, although I focused on what should interest a Republican opposed to the Ukraine conflict, and why it isn’t in their or the US’s best interest to be opposed.
