With the year 2023 coming to an end the federal government will increase the threshholds for 2024 for a few VISAS/permits, mainly concerning Blue Card EU and specialists.

The pension threshhold on which the salary thresholds are based on will rise from 7300€/Month to 7550€/Month.

At the same time the percentages of the threshhold will decrease with the new immigration law. For the Blue Card EU on November 18th to 45,3% for shortage jobs and graduates and to 50% for everyone else.

This means the Blue Card threshhold for shortage jobs and graduates will change from 3796€/month or 45,552€/year. (52% of the threshhold) to 3.420,15€/month or 41.041,80€/year (45,3% of the treshhold)

The regular Blue Card will change from 4867€/month or 58.400€/year (2/3 of the treshhold) to 3775€/month or 45.300€/year (50% of the threshhold).

The IT-specialist visa threshhold will rise from 4380€/month or 52.560€/year (60% of the treshhold) to 4530€/month or 54.360.

With 01.03.2024 the second third of the immigration law will come into effect and with that the threshhold for specialists will decrease to 45%. The threshhold will then change from 4530€/month to 3397,50€/month or 40.770€/year.

These new salary threshholds will be relevant for employments starting after 31.12.2023 or 01.03.2024 depending on the visa/residence permit. For people already holding Blue Cards/specialist permits this will only be relevant when an extension of the permit is needed.
