What a lovely experience. And thanks for sharing.
I once was on the same bus as an elderly German couple. They asked the bus driver to stop at a certain bus stop as it was close to where their car had been repaired at a car repair shop. The bus driver forgot to stop, and I watched their despair when the bus driver said there was nothing he could do, as he couldn’t turn the bus around. I quickly told the lady (the husband couldn’t speak English), that if they got off the bus with me I would tell my husband to meet us at the bus stop and we could drive them to their car. She asked me for my address and sent me some lovely bags of tea from Germany as a thank you.
So I told you this story to brag about myself a bit… haha,, and to say that I sympathise with tourists that get stuck on the Norwegian countryside while having to deal with our bus system. Sometimes you might have to wait two hours until the next bus comes past you. Or perhaps the next bus only come the next day… 🙂
I paid for some foreigners on the train 6 months ago. They were being asked to pay a fine for mot having tickets. They had no idea how to get tickets, and that was sincere.
So nice! Pay it forward, it’s how humanity is supposed to work.
